Bank holiday DIY fans urged to check home insurance cover as top home improvements projects are revealed

It’s bank holiday Monday and like millions of others you could be thinking of sprucing up your home or doing some DIY.

But if your ideas for home improvements are more grandiose, it’s important to check with your insurer to make sure your home insurance policy is still the right one for you.

Sharrocks works with an ethical insurer and our expert advisors can help ensure your policy offers you the right amount of insurance cover whether you’re adding an extension, building a conservatory, or have bought a summer house for the garden.

It’s also important to let your insurer know if you have to temporarily move out of the home during renovation works.

Mark Hayward, Chief Executive for  NAEA Propertymark – the UK’s leading professional body for estate agencies, said: “There are many reasons why homeowners are improving their property – whether it’s because they have realised the value and sale potential it can add, or they cannot afford to move and are looking to make the most of what they’ve already got.”
